AMAZING GRAYS

Amazing grays, the 50+ or Seniors Ministry at the Lake Don Pedro Baptist Church. We are envolved in several small groups, are active in ministries in the church and our community and have regular fellowship gatherings  throughout the year. We would love to have you join us. If you have questions please contact us for more information. You can check out the church calender for the date and times of our activities.

VALENTINE'S DINNER:

About 65 of us Amazing Grays (50+) gathered for a great evening of celebration around a Valentines theme, with BBQ Trip, Fresh Backed Salmon with all the fixin's. It was a great meal. Stories of first loves and first dates were shared around the table. That was good for a lot of laughs and brought back great memories. We sang a little and Pastor Paul share a brief message comparing God's love,  the love he wants us to share with one another, and the superficial love so common today. It was a wonderful evening. Here are a few photos you might enjoy.

AMAZING GRAYS - CHILI COOK-OFF

There was lots of awesome chili made by some of the best cooks around. There was mexican chili,  Paul's Fire chili, Chili Blanco, and several others. The first place chili contest winner was Marilyn Boone. Great job at beating out Pastor Paul (second place),  Sandra Perry took third. We had a great time of fellowship, were able to meet several visitors, and sang a bunch of old western cowboy songs we had almost forgotten. All the hay, saddles, briddles etc. that were donated by the Sults, Perry's and Anna Vest provided a perfect atmosphere. Thank you all who helped and attended.

VETERANS HONORED AT AMAZING GRAYS DINNER

On Nov. 7th a large crowed joined us for a great pot-luck dinner and lots of stories were told around the tables about veterans and their service to our country. Many of our guest were veterans, a couple from WWII, some from the Korean War and others from Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, and other deployments around the world. From a full bird Colonel to Regular Army enlisted men and women all joined as one. Pastor Hans offered a prayer for all those who served and are still serving. Pastor Paul gave a brief message of thanks for the veterans as well. Thanks to all who worked to make this a great evening.

BOWLING AT BLACK OAKS

What a great time we all had as we gathered at Black Oaks Lanes for an afternoon of bowling. Most of us could not recall thye last time we had even picked up a bowling ball and for the most part our scores reflected that.. Nevertheless, we laughted a lot at and with each other as we tried to break 100. Richard Mayes put the event together and we thank him for that. He is a regular there as a league and tournament bowler and he showed us all the way with a 231. Great job Richard. Others came in support to cheer us on. Below are a few photos.

SPRING GOLF OUTTING - SORT OF

April 11 we had our Spring Celebration. What better way to celebrate Spring than a little golfing. So, we putted around, rolled golf balls into cups from a measuring tape, and stacked three golf balls on top of one another. ( well we tried ) We had a great pot-luck dinner with wonderful fellowship and celebrated several birthdays.

AMAZING GRAYS - 1950'S - 60'S NIGHT - A REAL BLAST FROM THE PAST

Friday night Oct 18th lots of the ladies were decked out in their poodle skirts and scarfs for that 50's-60's look. A trivia contest brought back memories of hula-hoops. potato heads, bomb shelters, Elvis, Purple people eater and lots more. It was a great evening, wonderful fellowship and as always terrific home cookin'. Elvis may still be in chiropractic care from trying to move those hips like he onced did but I hear he will recover.
