It's cold outside but it's not too early to begin thinking about summer camp. An informational meeting for parents is planned for Thursday, January 29th at 7pm, at the church. Our first registration numbers and deposits are due February 15th and we'd LOVE to have your child come with us this year.
Camp is a life-changing experience for kids. And nobody does it better than the Lifeway CentriKid program! From age-apropriate Bible study Organized Mass Chaos (OMC), kids are engaged in non-stop fun and learning in a safe environment for a whole week.
We'll cover all the details at the meeting. For more information, you can log on to www.jennesspark.com and click summer camp, Centrikid. Know that we're alreadying praying for your child (ren) to be able to come to camp. You won't be sorry for letting them go.
We're gonna have a blast.
Our next Membership Seminar is scheduled for Saturday February 7th - 9:00 A.M 1:30 P.M. Pastor Hans will provide information on the church structure and doctrine to better enable you to make a decision about applying forormal membership. If you're interested contact the church office at 852-2029.
We kicked off our 2015 theme Need Prayer - We Care campaign. The highway signs have been posted, and will soon appear in yards all over the Don Pedro Area. We want to let our community know that we really do care and would love an opportunity to pray with and for them no matter what the need is. Our theme scripture is James 5:16 "The prayer of a righteous man (or woman) is powerful and effective." We believe in prayer and many of us have seen how God has answered prayer in our lives. Please call our church office if you need prayer.
Men, plan now to attend the Central Valley Baptist Association Men's conference on April 11 at Calvary Baptist Church in Modesto. The Children's Choir presented a musical story about all the decorations that go on our Christmas Trees -Here are a few photos.
On Dec.7th we conducted our Annual Business meeting. The nominating committee had nominated Bryan Berger and Matt Garcia for another three years term as deacons. They were elected. Also our 2015 budget was approved as ammended. There were 46 members present which is a good turnout and we appreciated everyones presence and participation.
Once again this year the Lake Don Pedro Baptist Church hosted almost 500 community residents to the Hacienda for a wonderful evening of food, sharing blessings around the table and just coming together as a community. Everyone left with full tummies and a glad heart. Thanks to Helen Miller and the entire team that planned and working so hard to make this year's dinner another great event.
On Nov. 7th a large crowed joined us for a great pot-luck dinner and lots of stories were told around the tables about veterans and their service to our country. Many of our guest were veterans, a couple from WWII, some from the Korean War and others from Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, and other deployments around the world. From a full bird Colonel to Regular Army enlisted men and women all joined as one. Pastor Hans offered a prayer for all those who served and are still serving. Pastor Paul gave a brief message of thanks for the veterans as well. Thanks to all who worked to make this a great evening.
Susie, our Bible School Director, hosted a dinner to thank all of our teacher for their dedicated service. Present were teachers from our Children's Departement, Youth Ministries and our Adult Small Groups. Each week these teachers take time to plan, prepare and present lessons for their classes and often their efforts go unnoticed. So we wanted to let them all know how important they are to our mission and that their faithfulness is appreciated.
On Sunday, September 22 the Youth and Children's Ministries team held the annual Quarter Carnival and Auction. There were lots of games for the kids, facepainting and a bounce house. Many showed up to play and help. The auction which featured many items donated by the church family raised hundreds of dollars for our Kids and Youth Camps. Thanks to all those who participated to make this a success.
Five of us headed out Friday to tackle Half Dome. One of the world's most iconic peaks, it rises almost 5000 feet from Yosemite Valley and provides a spectular view of many of the great peaks in the area. In order to reach the top you have to ascend the last 400 feet by cables. It is an exciting and challenging adventure. Here are a couple pictures. For more go to www.majestyadventures.com
Fuge was a great time of fun, but also learning, ministering, and growing. Check out the Youth page for more information and slide show.
This year's VBS theme was Discover - Decide - Defend. It equipped each VBS participant to Discover the truth of God's Word about Jesus Christ, encouraged them to make a decision to follow Chirst and gave them the evidence so they can give an answer for the reason for their faith. Attendance was great, the energy was amazing and the enitre staff did an awesome job of ministering to these kids. Also the largest every VBS missions offering was given to support our mission in Tanzania. Thanks to the VBS team for a great job.
Check out the VBS slide show on the Children's Ministry page.
Our seniors have been very busy. In the last couple of month we have help our Spring Celebration - Golf event and bowling at the Black Oak Lanes. So check out the Amazing Grays Web page for detail and photos.
An absolutely beautiful sunrise showed up on que as Pastor Hans delievers the message. The geese called as they did their annual "fly-by". The Zwarts family provided a great beakfast. But most of all we celebrated the ressurection of our Lord!
